At 44-1, Kessler is the favourite of the tournament having an exemplary record and along with B-Hop and Eubank having the honour of giving Joe Calzaghe the hardest fight of his career. He is the current WBA Champion and has a fanatical support group in his home country of Denmark.

Kessler won his warm up fight with Perdemo with ease on Saturday 12 September 2009 and faces Andre Ward in the first match up of the tournament.

Fighting Style

Kessler has been described as as straight up European fighter, a fighter who fights in straight lines. He has a great jab and uppercut (watch Calzaghe fight for evidence of that) and along with a sound boxing brain is guaranteed to give other boxers in the tournament a difficult time.

Whilst Kessler is from Denmark, his mum is English (Salisbury) and he also has a half brother who lives in England.His favourite food is meatballs.Half of Kessler's upper body is covered in a tattoo. He was inspired to get this tatto after seeing them on his trainers son Frank Olsen. He loves motorbikes.A big cinema goer.Owns a 110 pound bulldog called Herman.





He has a half sister called Lenina.Kessler still calls Copenhagen home but his official residence is Monaco.Is quite active in social media and has his own facebook page and youtube channel (see useful links).Cites Oscar De La Hoya and Chris Eubank as his boxing idols growing up.
